Cyndi was my Zebra companion when I went to Long Island to have my first styloidectomy,
and it is a pure pleasure to recommend her. First of all, she is a beautiful person, a shining
soul. She is easy and comfortable to be with, and since she has already made a journey
similar to the one you are embarking upon, she knows. She knows what you will need,
where to find it, how to anticipate next steps and make sure they are taken care of. More
than that, she also knows something of what you are facing and how that feels. You will not
be alone if Cyndi accompanies you.
Cyndi sat with me till I was wheeled into the OR and she was there, waiting for me when I
arrived on the surgical floor post-op. She spoke with my surgeon while I was still in recovery
and communicated with family and friends who could not be there. She found a wonderful
accommodation for us, stocked it with roses and groceries (after having checked into my
dietary preferences), washed the sheets the night before my surgery and again upon my
return. She drove me to the beach for some beauty, to the pharmacy for my meds, made
soup, and even took me out to eat when I was ready for that.
Seriously: she thought of everything and was absolutely instrumental in making an
inherently difficult experience so much easier. The unexpected bonus? We laughed a lot,
finding joyful moments amidst the challenges. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
